Correction: The average specific gravity of honey is 1.425, so 
420g is around 300 mL or _a bit over a cup_ of syrup the thickness of 
honey or 420 mL of water.

Depending on the syrup thickness 420g comes somewhere between 
one and two cups.

I'm estimating that 420g is the _maximum_ that two pounds of 
bees could hold inside without regurgitation or storing in comb, so I
can see how enthusiastic spraying or drenching of bees without comb 
could result in mortality.

Several pounds of bees on comb?  Not so much -- as long as the quantity 
applied is less than a cup.
