All that propolis we scrape off and discard is now a cash cow.

 

I recall that, at the Dublin Apimondia, there were more traders' stalls promoting propolis than promoting honey.  I collect propolis but don't discard it. In the UK it is difficult (legally!) to get hold of a strong enough alcohol to make a decent tincture, but I have made propolis toothpaste and used some Irish poitin to make tincture. More often than not, if I think that my immune system needs a boost, I will either suck/chew some or scatter it on my breakfast cereal.
