Moller, A. P., and M. Eriksson. 1995. Pollinator preference for symmetrical
flowers and sexual selection in plants. Oikos 73:15-22.   This paper has
some evidence that flower visitors can detect differences in flower size
within a species, and that they prefer the larger ones.
