Hello All,

When I returned from my weekly meeting at the restaurant with farmers I
turned on the news out of Kansas City , Missouri. We meet before the sun
comes up in the morning. Usually before 7 am.

The big news story was about Dan Bauer commercial beekeeper out of
Minnesota.

Bee problems.

An entomologist named Janet Knodel said the reason for the bees dying most
likely from bee parasites, stress from hauling bees long distance and
pesticides.

Gave USDA quotes of 4.5 million hives in 1980
2.4 million hives in 2008

said less than the 2008 figure today.

the TV 5 piece showed Dan loading his 15 the semi load for California and
said he was not done shipping. Showed piles of dead bees.

(looked to me like from under the place his pallets sat waiting for shipment
to almonds)

At the end of the piece the reporter said there was a widespread shortage of
bees in almonds with so many cases of hives being stolen guards were being
hired to guard the bees in certain orchards.

(Always brand or mark equipment when shipping to California. never leave
your keys in your truck unattended. )

PS we never lock our trucks in Missouri as long as the old weathered  sign 
by
the road is legible which says:

" ammunition is getting expensive so no warning shot will be fired!"
