Ph.D. opportunity - Summer 2012

Research project: Development of pesticide and metal biomarkers in honeybees (Apis mellifera).  The selected student will be part of Département des Sciences biologiques de l'Université du Québec à Montréal (http://www.bio.uqam.ca/) and the Centre Toxen (http://www.er.uqam.ca/nobel/toxen/).

•	Field work and laboratory studies; 
•	Scholarship of 15 000$/yr for 3 years and a 12 000$ (minimum) for the 4th yr. 

We are looking for a Ph.D. candidate with an academic background in the area of toxicology with a sound knowledge of pesticides or metals.  Knowledge of the French language and experience with pollinators would all be considered an asset. The candidate will be selected on the basis of academic achievements and commitment to research. Projet de recherche sur le développement de biomarqueurs d’exposition aux pesticides et métaux chez l’abeille domestique (Apis mellifera). L’étudiant(e) recherché(e) doit être en mesure de démontrer (cours ou stages) ses connaissances en toxicologie, notamment sur la toxicité des pesticides et des métaux. Connaissances de l'anglais et des pollinisateurs seront considérées comme des atouts.
