Re not knowing about the term Citizen Science and the comment:


"Neither do others in the world like some in Britain"


Actually the term was coined in the UK and US about the same time, although the US version first called it Public Participation in Scientific Research.  So the Brits don't get a free pass.  Looks like the term first appeared there.
