Hobbyists (I've never had more than 20 hives) do contribute and sometimes  
are heeded.  I was flattered, a few years ago, to be contacted by another,  
larger scale, beekeeper, Dave MacFawn of S.Carolina, and asked to write an  
Anglo-American beekeeping book with him!  We did it all by e.mail, and  
Getting the Best from Your Bees was eventually published!
