Hello Christina & All,

The predominant attitude I'm reading here seems to be a pragmatic
one...split and treat, break the brood cycle, split and treat.....this will
dilute the various stressors enough to keep the bees alive. Won't this
approach ultimately fail?

Yes!

 Is not sustainable.

Welcome to the list!

Your comb replacement hypothesis is correct to a point. Point being a year
for wax in a commercial operation or three years is not a correct measure.
The amount of expose would be a better measure.
