"Bees in eastern Scotland have lower survival rate, researchers say"

The article mentions more monoculture and pestices in the east but 
doesn't mention the race of bee.  I think that in the eastern side of 
Scotland there are more imported strains of bees used whereas in the 
west there are still plenty of the local bees, Apis mellifera 
mellifera, which may be better able to cope with the climate. Also, the 
climate tends to be milder and wetter in the west.
