Isolation of Long-Chain Aliphatic Alcohols from Beeswax
The Journal of Supercritical Fluids, Volume 37, Issue 2, April 2006,
Pages 173-177

Abstract: Aliphatic alcohols of chain lengths of 24–34 carbons have been
found to be beneficial in treating hypercholesterolemia. Approximately
40% of beeswax is long-chain esters which can be transesterified in
supercritical carbon dioxide to give these alcohols and fatty acid
methyl esters…

[NOTE: Hypercholesterolemia is a disorder that is characterized by an
extremely high concentration of cholesterol in the blood and cells.]
