on the other hand square kilometres are created equals

So if you place your apiaries closer you will need to make them smaller
given the same field capacity.

say 1 km versus 3.5 km apart will means

3.5/1 squared = 12.25 times

So if you place 10 hives 1 km apart, you could place 122.5 hives 3.5 km
apart and have the same density of close to 0.314 hives per square km

0.314 hives per square km is equivalent to
31.4 ives per hectare
63 hives per acre
