When I had Italian bees in the same yard the drone color in the Russian hive was lite yellow and the drone color in the Italian hive was dark. In the yards without Italian bees the drone color was all dark. I would say that drone drift is over 50%. 



The Devon Apicultural Research Group plans next year to go in for large scale drone marking with coloured, numbered discs intended for queens.  We hope then to be able to see what patterns, if any, result from their subsequent drifting.
