wrt to use of a solvent
I worked on pesticide determinations back in the early 70's.
Hexane was used as the eluant , in other words, knowing that pesticides tie
to fat , fish etc were ground up and in a separatory funnel shaken up with
hexane as a wash.
The filtered hexane was then injected into a Gas Chromatograph with an
electron capture detector and the printout was compared to known standards.
Obviously many methodologies have advanced , but
I would suggest that you not mess around with this stuff since it is very
volatile causing a major exposion if you're not qualified and do not have
the surroundings to work with anything you don't know about.
