And that is why I said "safer", not "safe".  I would never use the word,
"safe" in this context, although from what I can see, the risks are
minimal, especially compared to the alternatives.

Nothing is really "safe", except in context.  The "natural" chemicals
advocated certainly are not by any stretch.

I doubt we will ever know.  As long as harm is hard or impossible to
detect among all the other harms happening at the same time and the same
place, I think we have to be satisfied from a practical point of view.

Of course, from a curiosity perspective, we still want to know.
