.the film "Queen of the Sun"

Hey, let's go easy on "Queen of the Sun". It is second only to "More Than
Honey" in being well-crafted and entertaining, and it has a uniquely
uplifting and lighthearted tone. It even ends with a message about what the
audience themselves can do to "save the bees", and the suggestions are
reasonable and useful. (If you don't blink you can see 5 seconds of Joanne
in her "Queen of the Queen Bees" get-up at the very end of the film from the
NYC legalization party, she's the one that looks like a Disney princess.)

Yes, it profiles some very "colorful" people, but they were hand-selected
for their uniqueness, and those are exactly the sort of people who take up
biodyanmics. .'cept for me. I was in it solely for the 3x higher price I
could get for my honey.

And I'd like to point out that even a Demeter-certified Biodynamic operation
can use both formic and oxalic acid to control varroa, and can also use
drone brood removal, artificial swarming, acetic acid (to decontaminate
combs after nosema), lactic Acid (if it has any value in beekeeping),
(non-transgenic) BT, and the usual "biodynamic teas" that may or may not
show a striking similarity to "honey bee healthy" feed additives. You can
even (gasp!) feed your bees if you can find organic-rated sugar. In short,
they don't like Thymol (it makes your honey and comb a little too minty
fresh), and they don't like HFCS, for mostly emotional, rather than rational
reasons.

Most of the people practicing biodynamics have no idea who Steiner was, and
couldn't care less.
The biodynamic movement has distanced itself from Steiner the same way that
"The Forum" distanced itself from Werner Erhard, and for the same reasons.
