Having an 87% Wintering success rate I'm not having trouble keeping my numbers up this year at all, so far. The guys I talk to are saying they are seeing loads of bees in their hives but not loads of brood. My commercial friends here in SC are not talking about losses. It would be interesting to know what is happening in other parts of the US.

I asked another beekeeper "What did we do right?" He said, "Nothing." We don't seem to have that same outlook when die back is greater though. Did I, or we, do something right? Or was it "Grace", "Providence", or "the luck of the draw"? I don't know.

When something good happens I shrug my shoulders and say "How about that? Ain't that nice?" When something bad happens in my outfit I blame the beekeeper.
