"I am GUESSING here that the 'free market' folks would have a difficult time signing onto this?  We have somewhat the same thing down here only it is draped in the fabric of NO REGULATION.  The difference being that at least in Canada the consumer knows where the product originated from and here we bury our heads in the sand.  As an economist I suspect the path in both places leads to the same place.... a race to the bottom in terms of price and lots of beekeepers who can no longer pay their bills."

This "free market" guy has no problem whatever with people signing petitions - or even seeking a change in the law to prevent companies from blending foreign and domestic honey and calling it domestic. But if you're suggesting that the Canadian government - or the American government - should set price floors on retail honey, or ban imported honey, that's where we part ways.
