I realise that bees are not mammals, but it seems there is evidence
accumulating to suggest that the gut bacteria in humans can affect the
expression of various genes.  Don't ask me to cite.

I think we have to keep an open mind about this.

Some well-respected bee scientists have been hacking away at this.  So 
far I have not seen anything I would consider convincing, but this 
theory is IMO, at least as credible that the AGW hypothesis and probably 
far more testable.

But as always with keeping an open mind, we have to watch out that
people don't throw junk into it.
