Dr Steve Pernal has presented interesting data on comb sterilization (by
acetic acid, heat, or irradiation) inoculated with N ceranae spores. There
was only a temporary slight suppression of spore levels in the first month,
and no effect for the next 9 months.

His data did not suggest that there was any benefit to comb disinfection in
the case of N ceranae.
