I agree that Tracheal mite has not disappeared, although it seems more  
common in some geographical regions than others.
 
We've looked at TM in all of the CCD samples we've taken - rarely do we see 
 it, and then only at low levels.  Of course, the DISAPPEARED bees aren't  
available for inspection.
 
However, I haven't seen any evidence that TM is part of CCD, although I  
argue in a pending paper - if we ever get it published - too many IAPV  
advocates - who argue against us in the paper reviews -- I argue that the bee  
losses attributed to TM in the U.S., when TM first hit,  may NOT have been  TM, 
but a pathogen that is easily missed.
