It seems that I am ending 1999 with such a flood of problems I can only
hope that 2000 will be better!

Most recently:
A mom was told she didn't have enough milk, so she started combining
breastfeeding and cow's milk formula in the hospital. By the time she got
home, her baby started to have some bowel movements with some mucus, so the
MD changed her to Carnation Good Start after every breastfeeding. Then the
stools started to have red stringy and mucusy bowel movements, so they
changed her to Soy based formula, told her to stop breastfeeding and give
the baby Pepto Bismol. It was at this point I was called in. As she was
going by MD orders, it took me a while to get new orders, but of course
,mom was happy - baby's stools stopped, so of course the "medicine" was
working. My question - have they now started giving infants (2 weeks old)
this?

I thought it was a one-time deal, but I just got home from seeing a second
one with the same instructions. this time I got to see the stool and found
it to be normal breastfeeding baby stool. PLEASE give me some good
evidence I can use - other than the fact that P - B has aspirin in it! I
need to write to the MDs, but want to have some evidence to back me up - or
at least someone with MD after their name to refer them to!
