When a mother (and baby) has a variety of symptoms of a yeast infection,
and the mother is having "deep" breast pain, "shooting" or "radiating"
pain throughout the breast, and even to or around the back, it is
assumed that candida has colonized into the ducts. However, has this
ever been proven? Has anyone shown, either in the lab or some other
method, that the candida is definitely in the ducts? Is the tissue
lining the ducts conducive to yeast colonization?

Is is possible that yeast on the nipple has proliferated or "embedded"
to the point that the inflammation is exerting pressure on the nerve
endings of the nipple, causing the more intense and radiating pain?
Obviously there are not milk ducts in the back, so radiating pain from
the nipples could explain the deeper breast and back pain just as easily
as radiating pain from colonized ducts could explain the back pain.

If anyone knows of any "hard" data on this, please post so we can all
benefit from this knowledge.

Thanks,

Sandy Hess
