>She also thought it sounded like torticollis. (regarding a twin who moves
his head in unusual ways and is having trouble with breastfeeding).

My son Peter was misdiagnosed with torticollis as an infant, and even had
two years of therapy to try to "fix" it. The therapy did nothing, and he
was not correctly diagnosed until he was 12, by a pediatric opthamologist.
One of his eyes is not aligned properly, due to where the muscles are placed
on the eyeball, so he tilts his head *in order to see clearly*. When he
holds his head upright, he sees blurry and has double vision. This
condition could be surgically corrected, but we have opted not to do so.

Still . . . all those years of being told he had torticollis, and doing the
therapy exercises, and admonishing him to hold his head up straight --- all
for nothing. Torticollis does not usually result in anything that could be
described as a "bump" on the neck, either, which is what this twin is
described as having. Torticollis involves the entire sterno-cleido-mastoid
muscle (attaches to the sternum/breastbone, the clavicle/collarbone, and the
mastoid/big bump of bone behind the ear). A bump would not be explained by
torticollis.
