I am a long time admirer of Monteux, and these are well established
recordings. On the 5th, it is the Tchaikovsky symphony I least like.
Most performances seem mannered and excessive to me. Then I heard this
Monteux recording a few years ago and everything seemed to make sense.

I grew up on the Monteux 6th. I grew up well.

I will now visit the BMG web site. Thanks for the info.

PS Monteux died in the 60's. The recordings are not DDD, they're
incomparable performances.

Regards,

Tom Connor
