I can't think of any particular reason to start with the 5th symphony.  Why
not start at the beginning with the 1st symphony, a fine work in its own
right.  Considering Donald's sound requirements, I recommend Ashkenazy on
London which is/was coupled with the 6th symphony.  The sound is very good
and DDD all the way.
