My favourites movements are just here; to make a "short" list I decided
not to include Bach or Haendel's works, because I love too many of them....
For some of the movements below I indicate my favourite recording or I
should say, my favourite performance among the few I know. I'll be glad
to receive the comments of other members of the list concerning these
references, and of course, other recommandations!

- Beethoven: First movement of 5th symphony
First movement of piano sonata "Appassionata" (Richter)
Third and forth movement of piano sonata "Hammerklavier"
- Schumann: First and third movement of the Fantaisie op. 17 (Argerich)
- Schubert: First movement of the piano sonata D. 959 (Lupu)
Second movement of piano sonata D. 960 (Lupu)
- Chopin: First movement of piano sonata no2 (Rachmaninov)
- Dvorak: Cello concerto, first movement (Rostropovitch/Karajan)
- Faure: Requiem, forth movement "Pie Jesu" (Cluytens etc...)
- Ravel: Piano concerto in G, the second movement (Zimerman/Boulez or
    Argerich/Ceccato (video)
- Debussy: String quartet, third movement (Quartetto italiano)
- Prokofiev: Piano concerto no2, first movement
    Piano concerto no3, first+second+third movement (!)
     (Argerich/Dutoit or Argerich/Chailly)
Violin sonata no1, first movement (Kremer/Argerich)
- Bartok: PIano concerto no2, second movement (Kovacevich/Davis or
      Anda/Fricsay)
- Szymanowski: Stabat mater, first movement
