I have to put in a good word for Gergiev's "Nutcracker" ballet, (on one
CD). I bought it for my mom for Christmas and sampled--she's getting
my Mackerras instead! (Don't tell her). Gergiev delivers an exciting
performance, with many moments sounding astonishingly like Stravinsky's
"Firebird."
