I really disagree with your assessment of these recordings.  But for
the most incandescent recording, ever, of the G major concerto, get the
Michelangeli/Gracis recording.  One of the great recordings of all time.
I don't mean great recording of this concerto, I mean great recording
PERIOD.  What Michelangeli does with this upside-down trills in the first
movement is beyond belief.  And that second movement is breathtaking.
