I would really like to see an IBCLC with true committment to BFI in this
position. At this point there is no one with an 'inside' edge, the posting
is truly wide open. Please feel free to share it. What follows is the
original posting.

Patient Care Coordinator Maternity/Pediatrics

Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan, B.C. has an exciting opportunity to
work as a Patient Care Coordinator (DC2) on a 12 bed labor, delivery,
postpartum, level 1 nursery unit combined with a 9 bed pediatric unit. We
are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic nursing leader to manage this
unit and lead us toward achieving the World Health Organization's
"Baby-Friendly" designation. Hours of work are Monday to Friday with
weekends off.

Situated in the Cowichan Valley, Duncan is a community of about 78,000,
located halfway between Victoria and Nanaimo on the east side of Vancouver
Island.  Our primary industries are forestry, agriculture and tourism. Known
as 'the warm land', the Cowichan Valley has the highest average temperatures
in Canada.  There are wonderful opportunities for camping, boating, biking,
swimming and fishing. An hour's drive will get you to Victoria or Nanaimo
for the wealth of opportunities there.

You will need at least 3 years recent experience in labor and delivery,
along with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, post basic Obstetric level 1
and 2, and IBCLC or documented breastfeeding education. Experience in
pediatrics and public health nursing would be an asset.  Current
registration with the RNABC and CPR level C are required.

Salary range for this position is in accordance with the Nurses Provincial
Collective Agreement at $25.46 to $29.43 per hour.
