i got a call from  a mom today who had a severe reaction to shellfish - 2nd
time, convinced its an allergic reaction.  i could find no specific
information about her very particular question, and have my doubts that it
has been, or even can be researched - but maybe you all can help.  her
question is:

can nursing during or right after a maternal allergic reaction transfer
antibodies to the baby that might contribute to his future sensitivity or
allergy to that same substance?

I know if mom is allergic to something she should avoid it while nursing
(and all the time for that matter) because the baby might be allergic too,
or predisposed to be sensitive, and early exposure can trigger allergy.
But how do antibodies figure in to the picture?  anyone know the answer or
care to theorize?  thanks for your thoughts!
