I propose Mickey Mouse.  as the only 'toon character who ever shook hands
with Stokowski.

There's an old one about the reporter sent to interview Stokowski when
the maestro was guest conducting in the provinces.  The first question
inevitably was: "What is it like to be the only human being to shake hands
with Mickey Mouse?" and the equally inevitable answer, "Why don't you ask
Mickey Mouse what it is like to be the only mouse to shake hands with
*ME*?"
