I heard some of the same program mentioned.  While there is a superficial
similarity to Gottschalk, Bethune's music did not possess the same
originality.  Gottschalk, whose music I very much admire, is more like
an Americanized Chopin and much more pianistic, while Bethune seems more
Stephen Fosterish.
