Off the top of my head, in Albany, New York in the State Museum I believe is
a book of brands from Suffolk County, Long Island, NY that range from the
1650's to 1960's as all brands were apparently required to be registered in
the record to handle various claims. I found this reference on the Internet
inside the NY State's records and I think it can be accessed physically
otherwise it might not be on the Net.

P.S. Since this message might have a lot of attention, does anyone know about
what the status of the Heye Foundation with The Smithsonian in regard to the
assets of the Heye Foundation in the Borough of the Bronx within the
Huntington Free Library? The whereabouts of Lee Calendar, who used to work
for the Heye?
