Really it depends what you want to read about.  But if it's composer's
lives and music you're interested in then the master musicians series
(published by dent) is excellent.

I use Rosemary Hughes Haydn book in the series as my standard reference
book on H's work's.  I've had it 12 years now and its really tatty.
As I get a new work of his I tick it off in the back of the book.  That
reminds me, there are many of H's songs which are not listed in this book
but are listed in 'The New Grove' music encyclopedias.  These are a superb
reference also.  You might find them in your library.  Do you have English
books in Swedish libraries?
