We in New Zealand are getting another of our infrequent visits by
international pianists, this time by Charles Rosen (in 1991 or -2,
barely into adolescence, I was lucky enough to hear Cherkassky when he
came here).  I know that Rosen is a very learned and interesting man, and
I will certainly go to his lecture and masterclass, but his recital is on
a weekday late in the evening and it may also be difficult to get tickets.
Therefore I would like to know:  How good is he specifically as a pianist
- and how well does his playing hold up at age 70? Joachim Kaiser thought
that Rosen had not fulfilled his early promise as a pianist, but I do not
agree with quite a few of Kaiser's other opinions - so who knows.
