I admit I always used to feel funny calling out "Maestro" from the back row
when I had a question. But I was not alone. It depended on the conductor.
I may be wrong, but I think that Karajan used to insist on being called
"Herr Generalmusikdirektor" or whatever the German equivalent is. Something
like that.
