Hi, and thanks
to all who wrote to help with the mom who had severe hemorrhaging following
delivery (at risk for Sheehan's syndrome).  The mom is feeling much better
about the situation and getting some milk.  Unfortunately, the baby is in
NICU also, so nursing directly is currently out of the question.  The mom
feels good about the gavage feedings with her colostrum, so we'll see what
happens from here.  They are both lucky to be here!

I hope you all saw the new article by Pamela Kliethermes, Mary Grace Lanese,
et. al in the current JOGNN.  "Transitioning Pretern infants With
Nasogastric Tube Supplementation: Increased Likelihood of Breastfeeding."
Mary Grace spoke on this subject at the ILCA conference last year and I have
been waiting impatiently for it to be published all year since this study
pretty much follows our protocols .  Anybody who works in NICU would be
interested.
