Hi Matt and all,
I've done the shotgun method once on a high swarm where I didn't want to
risk my neck. Use a full choke and shoot the limb off. Since the queen
comes down with the swarm, they stay put on the ground. The shock of the
impact does not seem to kill a lot of bees and the queen is usually
cushioned by the mass of bees.
This method is NOT recommended for swarms in town ;-)
Cheers,
Dave Pehling
