I was just reading in Dr. Susan Loves breast book last nigh about breast
surgery on the lactation breast. She said :
"It is messier to perform surgery on a lactation woman than on a non
lactating one, and its always possible that the operation will cause a milk
cyst o leakage. It is really no great tragedy, though, if it does. It can
temporarily make the milk messy too, since blood from the operation can mix
with the milk. Blood wont hurt you baby so it is mostly a matter of
aesthetics. Some surgeons will tell a lactation woman she has to stop
breastfeeding if she needs a biopsy. She doesn't. " End of quote.
