One option that I don't believe has yet been mentioned are some of the
record company distributor websites, especially for imports into the USA.

For example, I've done business directly with Qualiton Imports, which can
be accessed through www.qualiton.com, and found the transaction fairly
painless, if you can put up with less than glitzy website graphics and
sometimes less than efficient searching. It also assumes that you wish to
buy multiple recordings from their labels, which for me isn't a problem
(especially for pre-Classical period music). The site offers searching
by label, and new releases announcements, as well as different monthly
discount offers.

My limited amount of shopping around tells me that prices are generally
cheaper than buying these imports through an intermediary on-line seller.
There doesn't seem to be any minimum order, though a flat-rate shipping
charge (as well as a quantity discount) does encourage ordering multiple
CDs. Orders seem to be filled reasonably quickly based on my limited
experience.

Some of their many labels include BIS, Hungaroton, Supraphon, K617 and
Ricercar.
