An interesting point but hard to come to grips with.  Vaughn Williams
symphonies are solidly in the standard recorded repertoire(if there is
such a thing) and also in the standard FM repertoire with shorter works.
As for the Four Seasons, the BSO recently did it, and WCRB in Boston
essentially plays it around the clock.  The other works are not, IMHO, in
any "public" standard repertoire, but that is the point - you can do your
own!!  And so "standard recorded repertoire" is a bit of an oxymoron.  In
Boston, Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall (the performance hall of the New England
Consevatory- a great place!!) and Tower Records are located within a five
minute walk of each other.  In a symbolic sense Tower Records is the most
significant for listeners who want to sample the full range of classical
music- including the very old and the very new.
