She has recorded it with Barbirolli and with Barenboim.  I like the
Barbirolli a lot.  It is the greatest performance that I know but also the
only one.  They say that Barenboim is better.  Who cares? This comparing
habit is useless.  I feel that every performance enlightens a different
aspect of a work.  Comparing means quantifying it.  Art cannot be
quantified.

Anyway, I share you enthusiasm about the du Pre (with Barbirolli)
performance.  JdP has made me start to like Elgar.  She is very passionate,
that's why.
