Anybody else know Sowerby's Sym 2? I'm not sure its the 'great' American
sym we've all been seeking, but it's quite well crafted and enjoyable. I
think it's also got the 1st passacaglia by an American composer. Or maybe
I read that in the liner notes? Anyway, its on Cedille 900000 039 and worth
a listen. Sowerby seems to be completely unknown except for some sacred
choral and organ music, but wrote some nice orchestral music and tone poems
too.
