Not quite in the same area but you reminded me: (and the person I got
this from was present).

Roland Kirk (blind jazz saxophonist) was playing a gig at Ronnie Scott's
club in London.  Partway through one number he wandered off the stage,
still playing and out of the club, to return a few minutes later, still
playing and still in perfect time.
