The f-word here (no, not "feminism") is used as an intensifier,
a word often used to convey the writer or speaker's strong sense
of emotion.  In this case, an intense form of disgust.  In public
discourse, some prefer to use the word "h*ll" instead.

Writings in post-modern anthropology often inspire such
responses from anthropologists of very different age-grades.
