I need to clarify something--after a few people asked.

I chose not to accept post-surgery meds NOT because I could not have used
them. Yes, indeed, I was in pain and uncomfortable. But I valued being
able to think clearly as soon as possible more than very temporary pain
relief which might have had other negatives (such as losing my dinner! NO
WAY did I want to have to throw up with 4 holes --and the requisite
stitching--in my abdomen!) I figured that being uncomfortable at the
beginning would be a small price to pay for later greater comfort.
