I have been asked about a spoon, apparently silverplate, bearing the
following marks (from top to bottom):

[?:]                            7
[Maker:]                J    W
                                 &                       [in quatrefoil]

                              J    W
[Date:]                      D                      [upper case, serif]
= 1860
[Assay:]        (three-tower castle)    = Exeter
[Standard:] (lion passant) = sterling ? plate? (not
passant gardent;
                                                           i.e: lion is
facing straight ahead, not to the left)
[Duty:]                 (Victoria)               = 1837-1901

Can anyone tell me about the maker of this spoon???

Thanks in advance,

Chris Andersen
