I have sent to Smoke, an extensive bibliography on Game Marbles in Micorsoft Wor
d
'97, to be made available to the interested members of the list. I would also
encourage purchase of the latest book by Jeff Carskadden and Richard Gartley:
"Colonial Period and Early 19th-Century Children's Toy Marbles: History and
Identifications for the Archaeologist and Collector" 1998
which can be obtained from
THE MUSKINGUM VALLEY ARCHAEOLOGICAL SURVEY, 24 South 6th St., Zanesville, Ohio,
43701 [ISBN: 0-9626931-8-9]
These two good researchers self-published a book that has limited appeal outside
of
Historic Archaeology, but is well-illustrated and a good general text for those
lucky sods that find marbles on their sites (chronologies included). No financia
l
incentive has been offered to me, to share this information with the list. Perha
ps
a few libraries might pick it up for interlibrary loans for the economically
limited folk among us?
