Although we have not encountered "fur trade" medals, we have excavted a
"La Salette Cross" in rural central Maine..  The medal refers to the
apparition of the Virgin Mary near the village La Salette, France in
1846.  We have yet to determine a date for this medal, but it is fitting
with the French Canadian immigration of mid-19c.  Also, a La Salette
Shrine was established in Enfield, New Hampshire in 1951
