It is common practice for HCP's to submit a fee & go through an investigation
process to be on staff at a hospital. (a friend who is an RN & psycologist in
practice with an MD had to do this even though she had previously been
employed by the hospital as a nurse for many years---an excellent nurse!)
My thought is, if the LC is not "on staff" she cannot be referred by the
hospital nor can she write on the hospital's chart. But, if you are contacted
by the mother to visit her in the hospital, how can the hospital deny you
access to the mom & baby?
